Ahhh, that brings back the memories
I lived in Wellington for about 9 years, and used to fly regularly for business (737, ATR-72 and BAe 146), and pleasure (if visiting family is pleasure? - Bandit, Metro and Jetstream 31/32)
Often when landing, it didn't feel as much like the pilot had landed on the ground, as the ground had decided to come up and meet the plane
Several times I saw the flight I was on, on the news that night, as flights from BHE to WLG seemed to come in no matter what the weather, and seemed to be the only non-jets landing
Also, I made more than one flight into WLG that was aborted either just on landing or just before. It was more 'fun' in a boeing to do that than a Metro or Bandit
Saw some good ones too
Seemed to be a past time to get take-away and eat them in the car watching the planes landing in the wind and/or rain
Saw several near misses while there, including (I think) an Air Pacific 737 that was all over the sky, and looked like the wing tip had hit the ground on landing (if you believed the over-hyped news, it did, and I was waiting for the 'it crashed', which of course, it hadn't, but...). To this day, I could swear it didn't touch. It was close, but not that close
Anyway, I look forward to flying into WLG, as it's never boring, and always a nice airport to spot at
YZ

Hey I liked the last one with the Bombardier Q300. That must be from July last year as the fleet is quite new.
Wellington is my home town. I have flown Cheetahs, Cessnas and Travellers from here. I once landed a Cheetah ZK-EFZ on a stormy day, with crosswinds from the southwest at 45-55 knots. The manual says it can't be done.
I remember back in 2002 when Air Pacific covered for Qantas during the Ansett Australia collapse. Those Air Pacific pilots were often too scared to land and would shoot one approach, abort on finals and fly back to Auckland.
