I think that if transavia joined then they would, as they are the low cost arm of KLM, they would join SkyTeam. I think Thomas Cook, Monarch and First Choice may join Star Alliance, as there are a number of holiday companies in there. I think Virgin would join OneWorld.

I don't think any LCC will be invited to join any of the three major alliances. All three require full-service standards (including business class accomodation) and interline ticketing/baggage handling,
OneWorld kicked out Aer Lingus because EI went to the LCC business model: the business strategy no longer fit.

VS and it subsidories, would never join the oneworld alliance because of BA.
Their was rummers a few years ago that VS would b joining the Sky team alliance.
No LCC will b accepted in any alliances as they do not and will not comply with the standards that the alliances want, however their is an LCC alliance which they all(most) belong to.

VS seem to be friendly with Star Alliance, and one (if not the major shareholder) is a Star Alliance member - SQ. The ultimate plan for LHR T1 (Heathrow East) is for Star Alliance plus VS. I think there may be a clue there.

Mr O'Leary to dictate such a LCC global alliance? Well, I guess this may seem inevitable to Europeans who are used to Ryanair domination. However, Mr O'Leary should better check whether Gary C. Kelly(Chairman of Southwest - Largest airline in the world by number of passengers carried or over 2.5Xs of Ryanair's) has anything to say to that.....

if stewart as u say that VS will join the rest of the star alliance in term 1 (term east is/will b the old term 2)
then y have VS put a lot of money into term 3 with the re-building of their express car check-in for upper class members etc etc??..

I wont say it will never happen but I just can't see VS joining any alliance at this stage due to Sir Richard Branson who in many ways is within the company another Mike O'Leary and rules with a rod of iron so will he be happy to fit into the terms and conditions of an alliance ? I don't think so.

i would imagine VS would hate to join OneWorld, cause of AA & BA. If they joined SkyTeam, that would be amazing!
Quote: Dieseljean
Aren't US Airways a LCC?
And dosen't Aer Lingus want to join SkyTeam? cause of KLM.
But if JetBlue ever joined an alliance then i could see Aer Lingus following them!
And now CO wants to leave for Star Alliance! This just upsets the situation, and CO will look like a bunch of idiots if they join Star Alliance and UA collapsed (Lord Forbid). Then they will be the mouse amongst the pigeons! :P
