Kinda old news, since the order (and with that the launch of the T7 program) has been placed at 23 may 2005.

The first 777 Freighter is scheduled for delivery to Air France in the fourth quarter of 2008, so we'll have to wait a bit to see the T7F flying.

Hi Crew,

Kind of late reply I know to your original posting in May, but what I know is the 777F will be based on the 777-200LR, but will have the larger fuel tanks and fuel tank positioning of that of the 777-300ER. The 777F will have a revenue paying lift capacity of upto 103.9 Metric tonnes ( 229,000 lbs ) with a maximum range of upto 9047 Km ( 4885 nm ). Source:-

http://www.boeing.com/commercial/777family/pf/pf_freighterback.html

From memory the launch customer is Air France with 5 x 777F on firm order with deliveries starting 4th 2008. Then Avion Group of Iceland intial order for 4 x 777F, will be 2 for Air Atlanta Iceland and 2 for Icelandair these are for delivery 2009. Avion Group also have a second firm order for 4 more 777F but no sure where they will be placed or the delivery schedule. Air Canada has 2 x 777F on order also for delivery 2009. As of now, I think 777F orders (excluding options) stand at 40 firm as follows-

5 Air France
8 Avion Group
2 Air Canada
8 Emirates
2 ILFC
15 FedEx

If incorrect perhaps someone can correct me on same and post. Thanks.

Whilst on the subject o freighters, I also heard that Boeing will release a Commercial version of the C-17 Globemaster ( payload upto 77,519 Kgs =179,900 lbs ) - anyone else also here this ?

All the best, Trevor

I think for 747 replacement the tripple 7 is a good option and the airline will use better is Emirates, with the larger order and the best routes for these aircraft. Ithink the orders will not be graet in the initial program. The orders will not be larger i think.

Absolutely. The 777F can actually lift more weight and fly it further than the 747-100F & 747-200F. The 777F also appeals to DC10F/MD11F operators. I wonder perhaps if the 777F might actually end up eating into 747F sales. It certainly narrows the gap ( 747-400F max payload upto 124 M/tonnes 8240 Kms range, 747-400ERF max payload upto 134 M/tonnes 9212 Kms and the new 747-8F upto 140 M/tonnes 8288 kms range). Afterall, Boeing has been pushing now for years on the passenger side that smaller aircraft serving direct routes is preferable to giant aircraft feeding hubs.

As to which operator will have the highest usage rate of this aircraft, that remains to be seen.

all the best, Trevor
