Hi Werkur737,

KLM currently has 4 B777 orders remaining, all for the 777-300ER:
1 ordered at 11 Aug 2005
2 ordered at 23 Nov 2005
1 ordered at 21 Nov 2006

According to my information there are two that are due soon

PH-BVA 35671
PH-BVB 36145

From posts earlier it appears they have ordered four but i can see this increasing further along the line as they probably will use some 773's to replace there fleet of MD11's which i would think would then go to cargo operations. But that wont be for a while yet.

Not sure when they are due but they were in my book this year and werent and update so they will probably be due before March when the next book is published. We shall have to wait and see and just hope its sooner than that because the 773 will look good in KLM colours.

News of KL's 77W order has been around for a while on their own website as well as: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KLM

Some of these 77W orders are converted fm their outstanding 772ER orders. I believe KL intends to eventually replace all their 744s with 77W exactly like what JL and NH are doing and similar to AF(Some AF's 744s are replaced by A388).

All their M11s will eventually be replaced by 772ER which has slightly bigger pax capacity but much more cargo than the M11s.

SJR:
KL has tons of 744s and so far, they hv only announced a total of 4 untis of 77Ws in their order. Sure, I anticipate KL will announce further orders for more 77Ws to replace their 744s but given the usual time it takes fm ordering to delivery, I think U'll hv at least 3-4 yrs to catch those KL 744s. I estimate it'll be beyond 2010 before the last KL 744 retire fm pax service.

FLX, thanks for the news on wikipedia.

I thought KLM will use its 744 for more longer years, some of them are from lately '90s.
With 772ER will able AMS-SYD, if have an interesting on this route.

Werkur737:
Not AMS-SYD. More like AMS-BKK/SIN-SYD.

AMS-SYD is more than 16,600km apart and with seasonal weather+traffic+safety allowances, an airliner needs at least 17,600km range. No airliner is capable of such a non-stop scheduled ops today. Max range @ full pax load for the 772ER is about 14,200km. Even a 77L falls a bit short of that range.
