Wow, I didn't know BA is going to replace their large fleet of relatively young(None more than 11 yrs old) 772ERs so soon. Timing for replacement of their 744s is about right though.

BA with A380? This is new for me. What happened with the idea of Boeing for long-haul on BA? For very long time a Boeing client, and i may think with the time all B744 will be replaced by A380? Humm SOUNDS WEIRD my opinion! B772ERs, has good conditions for flying many years, especially the RR trent powered. AIRFLEETS.NET STAFF PHOTO SCREENER

I agree with you Werkur737. Last I heard from Willie Walsh was that he was looking at A-380 and if they did decide on it the numbers would be low nothing like 12. Do you have confirmation of this A-380 order Mrtnw as I would like to see it. BA have more 777-200ER on order and yes will take the 787 Dreamliner. The 772's have a lot of life left in them yet and it has never been BA's policy to get rid of aircraft with lots of time left on them (757 being the exception). 747 will also be around for a while but 772 will be the main workhorse for the long haul fleet.

The A380 will replace the 20 oldest B744s, the B787s (both 788s and 789s) will replace 14 B767s For the remaining 744s BA looks at the 787-10, 773-ER and A380

Thanks for the links, Mrtnw. The B787 is very good for replace the B763, but i see the comonally on the remaining B744 replacements for the 773/ER. Almost all B772 of BA i already photographed, but only nine accepted here in the database. AIRFLEETS.NET STAFF PHOTO SCREENER

This is a blow for the B747-800I then because i would have thought that BA was one of there biggest customers. Ah well you never know BA might well change its mind again although it will be interesting to see BA whalejets and i always thought they would choose the 787. Its looks unlikely that the will be more than a handful of B747-800I's now.

Well well well. Maybe we the whale jet is gonna sell better now that BA have ordered some. Surely this threatens the 747-800 (hich to be honest isn't an all new design) MAybe BA want a new look as well) Now I can see the A380 getting some more orders. BTW how many orders for the 747-800 any ideas? Congratulations BA.

Mrtnw Thanks for the links. I felt a right idiot this morning when I went into work and heard the news after what I had replied to you at 7.51am. The order for the A-380 is a real turn up for the books and as speedbird9468 has said it will confirm the whale jet as a contender for the prime Jumbo Jet on the market today. I am still not a fan of it and who knows I may change my opinion of it in 10 years or so if I am still around.

Firm orders: A388: 177(+12 fm recent BA order) A388F: 0 748i: 24 748F: 57 I think there's 1 over-riding reason above all that BA went for A388: Slots availability @ LHR in the foreseeable future. It's interesting that this BA order actually represents roughly equal victories for both Airbus and Boeing in terms of total order $ value based on listed prices. Do you guys think BA did it on purpose?
