What do you think, how important is it to practice communication, even in simulators (on computer)? And not just replying to the ATC, but also acknowledgement of messages by the ATC. What do you think of it? We always practice the communication in FS, either FS2004 or FSX.

I generally comply to ATC. The only time i didn't follow the ATC was when i flew A T7 from Sydney to Melbourne and the air traffic control was sending me about 100 miles out to sea. Which was annoying!

I think very important to reply to ATC. I fly FS2004 and the communication get better information about the area and help me on landings, where i have more difficulty. When i fly many times point to point, like from Toronto to Philadelphia and back, the most of my flights are this one, i try to use the view out back of the plane for better view of the area, heps me a lot, but the communication is very important even after flew many times the same route. I not encourage a good flight without replying to ATC. I usually fly a B737, the aircraft i think is easier for a starter like me.

Werkur737, we also fly 737s but also the heavies like A380 and qiute rarely 747. But I always insist on communicating with the ATC to make the flight as real as it gets. I like talking to ATCs. It's fun, except in IFR. But also in IFR they guide you about SPD, ALT, HDG and so on, so you don't have to decide on those on yourself.

I will only use IFR when i am flying an airliner or a business jet. If flying light or general aircraft i generally use VFR.

For now i'm not trying to fly the heavies like A380 and B747s, very hard to control, just B737s and A320 family, for a starter like me. Do you guys know if have differences to control Russian jets on FS2004?

SJR, you're right, but if we put weather scheme to even rainy or major thunderstorm, they wouldn't let us to takeoff unless using IFR. We tried, but for unfriendly weather we have to fly IFR. It is logic, if you consider low visibility in unfriendly weather, to use Instrumental Flight Rules.

Werkur 737, how do you mean  Russian jets on FS2004 ?

I am sure i saw a download somewhere for a TU154. Think it was a choice of Aeroflot or Belavia colours for it. I see if i can find it again!

Oh.. I see, Werkur737. But I've never seen Russian jets on FS.

And one more thing.

In threads ''Communication in flight..'' and ''Before landing checklist'' I've seen discussions about FS downloads, add-ons etc. Please don't turn of the subject, I'll create a new thread for FS.
