Spotting at FRANKFURT

Hello everybody I am going some 5 days to Frankfurt. I know the terrace will only open in september. Does anyone have a good alternative to the terrace. Small road, parkingplace etc? Regards Hans.

When i went to Frankfurt recently i spent my time on a public footpath that overlooks a motorway and two runways. The third can be seen in the distance. The problem at this location is that there is not shelter from the rain should it rain. With regards to this spot however it can be good for landing shots and some smaller aircraft taxy past on route to the far runway. I believe there is also a mound but i dont know where it is.

The bridge is on a public footpath near the old airbase. There was no parking area but it is near the frankfurt intercity hotel where i was staying. Sorry i am not sure which end of the airport it is at but from this location i could see two parallel runways and a third runway at the far end. Whilst i was there it was mentioned to me that we were near the old airbase and there is a DC3 and another aircraft on display which can be seen from the public footpath. To be honest i can't quite remember too much of how to get there because i was on an organised trip that went round many airports. It was the Paris Airshow first then on to Zurich and through Germany and back to the U.K. where i am via Belgium. I am not sure if there is a Frankfurt spotters site but if there is it will have a list of locations and how to get to them. Sorry i can't really help!
