I read in the Sunday Times today, that EI are in exclusive talks with Airbus regarding their long haul fleet expansion, however it doesn't say anything about which specific planes.
Therefore, just short of the official announcement I think it is fair to say we are likely to see more green 330s and then quite possibly 350s.
I'm still making my mind up about this one, I would really have liked to see some green 787s, but what can you do I suppose.
On a side note, in the same article, the foreign hub(as previously discussed here) shortlist is
Birmingham
Mannchester
Bristol
Belfast.
Birmingham and Manchester are the top candidated apparently, Belfast being unliely as it is only an hour from Dublin by road, and is seen as being a bit too close.

Well i would love to see EI at Manchester. Would this be both short haul and long haul flights or would it just be short haul. Either way it will be nice to see more EI aircraft than the current Dublin service and the Cork service scheduled to start later this year. I would certainly love to see A330's in the green colours. I suppose i will have to wait and see. My guess would be Birmingham would be favouritte due to it not having many long-haul flights. To my knowledge there are only two. EK to Dubai and CO to New York but if this is wrong i am sure someone will enlighten me. Oh nearly forgot Air India does India <> Canada as well.

That would be good news for Airbus and EI. You never know they might even go for an A380. Although highly unlikely. They will probably go for the A330/A340 series then in the future the A350. So good luck to the both of them.

LOng life to A330s of EI, it's a very good aircraft.
Anyone can tell me more about the A320s of EI?
If i'm sure...EI changed some A320s old for some new. Why, because the A320s are still with long life... AIRFLEETS.NET STAFF PHOTO SCREENER

My apologise i didn't know that Air Transat operated to Birmingham and that Globespan had started. Is PIA still operating since the ban on their aircraft then. Still as i said there are non of the following routes:
-Chicago
-Atlanta
-Orlando
Aer Lingus has more potential for long-haul routes from Birmingham since there are less long haul route operated than there are at Manchester

Werkur737,
EI still has all the original 320s and i believe 2 new ones delivered this week, the only 320s that have left the fleet were two that were on summer lease from swiss, and only operated for EI for a single summer.

Actually Aer Lingus used to operate EI-CVE and EI-CVF but they were returned to the leasing company. The majority of the A320's replaced 737-400 and 737-500 aircraft. They also ditched the 146-300 not to long back which was a tremendous shame since it looked excellent in their colours

My apologise, it would appear that Aer Lingus never actually re-registered the aircraft that were supposed to be EI-CVE and EI-CVF from their previous registrations since it decided to go for more brand new aircraft like the ones it operates now.
