Interesting, how many ATR42's are they getting is it just one?

If thats the case i bet they lease it from Atlantic like BMI did. I hope to see it a BHX in the not to distant future. I wonder if someone will start a Manchester route soon. Its certainly on the cards from Dundee i think, having said that didn't Bmi used to operate the route with RJ145's until a few years back

FlyWhoosh is owned by a polish airline called White Eagle Avation (WEA). i would think they would leasse an ATR 42 from WEA.

There only getting 1 but if there network is successful they are thinking of expanding there network.

there scheme looks really nice.

oh, and they will e bringing there own mantanince crew to Dundee airport and they will have there cabim crew wich are from Poland.

My mistake i missed that part. White Eagle have 4 ATR's. Hopefully a Manchester service is on the cards from Dundee even if it is another airline to operate it. It will make a change for those up their to see and airline that isn't Scot Airways.

yes i agree becuase Manchester is the biggest city left in England that Dundee doesn't serve so i would think there would be a demand for it. and, and yes some thing else to see

They having been starting for at least 3 years, but this certainly looks more promising. They were originally flyblu but they were forced to change their name by JetBlue and the American government because they were to similiar. By the way there is on other ATR42-300

SP-KTR C/N 092 (Unless this has been removed without me hearing about it)

Apparently according to my book White Eagle also have a tristar on order (SP-KEW 1207).

There have been planning to start from 19 October 2003
it was originally called flyblu then changed FLYWHO and now flywoosh
when it was flywho it said Start-up delayed indefinately in march 05
when it was flyblu it was going to start with 767 then 310
flywho 310 and flywoosh ATR 42
with the start up taking so long it will mite not happen so do the some of the locals round there

SP-KTR was only leased to them from Globus Airlines

Don't forget they also wanted to start with a Tristar at one point. SP-KTR is still leased to them isn't it, or has it returned, regardless i do agree SP-KCN is the most likely to operate the route short of them getting another ATR for the job.

More interesting however is the former Delta Tristar which is in AFQR 2007 under white eagle (SP-KEW). If this does go ahead this might be leased out to other carriers to cover for technical difficulties. I hope so because seeing it at Manchester would be nice. We occasionally get CS-TEB, CS-TMP and prior to its storage CS-TMX. As a result i have now seen a fair few Tristars adding three military and one stored in Amsterdam

Thats amuzing since i can go there all the time its only 15 minutes away. Thats why its now boring since all the traffic tends to be the same. On the other hand we have just had a Lufthansa A343 divert in and also a Eastern Skyjets DC-9. Saw neither of them though. The A343 i saw in Munich though but a picture is always nice.

FlyWhoosh cancels Newquay plans FlyWhoosh only recently announced their new service to Newquay on top of their current Dundee service and have already cancelled their plans for the new service. This was mostly due to the fact that their aircraft is operated by White Eagle Aviation which is ofcourse a Polish airline and was down to the Polish CAA to approve the service which took longer than expected.

The Dundee service continues to operate as normal with their sole ATR-42 (SP-KCN).

Well they may put this on hold for a while since they do not want to get in too much debt by growing too quickly. I see them in about a years time with three aircraft and maybe in a few years say three with about 8 ATR's. All depends on their success in the early years. I wish them all the best.

Really sorry about my ignorance but where exactly is Dundee? Is it in UK or continental Europe? Given the huge number of users responding in this thread, it seems like a key/important/popular/hub destination which many airlines should serve. In the U.K., for example, I only know LHR, LGW, Stansted, Luton, London City, MAN, Birmingham, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Filton, Cardiff, New Castle, Leeds/Bradford, Liverpool, Belfast and as a non-European, I thought I already knew quite a lot.

Any help will be appreciated in understanding commercial aviation of Dundee.

and its a hub of Scots Airways and recently its the Hub of Fly Whoosh.

It is a small regional airport that is starting to grow. The reason there may seem to be a lot of replies is that there are two members at least from Dundee and myself based at the wonderful Manchester. As i post i cant help but notice the Air France A318 heading past my house on approach for runway 05R.

U're right, MAN is wonderful and U're real lucky. How many Int'l airport in the world has both a dedicated aviation viewing park in close proximity to the actions+a Concorde on display....U'll be lucky not to be harassed by airport security/military if U try to get anywhere near the perimeter fences in many airports in Japan, China and the U.S. for example, let alone raising your camera = (

The old skip here although not a Dundonian is very interested in Dundee Airport at Riverside Park. I have been involved with two airlines who tried and failed to develop Dundee (Euro-Air and Air Ecosse) a number of years ago. There was just not the support from the locals at the time but I think things are changing and with the right destinations things will grow. It is a short runway with no room to extend so it will never be an ABZ, EDI or GLA but should be able to offer passengers the choice of both UK domestic and near European destinations. The City Fathers need to do more to sell the city to airlines and get a few more services going.

Although i cant be certain but couldn't they build a new runway out on the river that could take aircraft up to the size of a B757-200

it'possible and its a great idea but the council just sit on there asses and do nothing and expect the airport to expand with more routes.

great idea. maybe like macau airport lol

Well they could then turn the current runway space into terminal space along with replacing the existing terminal. The only way it will happen is if the airport is bought by private investors.

Profil utilisateur Message privé Suggérer la supression
Message de FLX - Envoyé le 28 Aug 7:16

yes, by private investors(e.g. BAA)...AND the environmentalists won't scream too loud(They will, the question is just how loud)@ such an airport expansion project in a relatively pristine area of the U.K......How likely will that be? We're talking about altering the river flow & bottom dredging...

I always thought the U.K. has probably THE toughest airport construction+op restrictions in the world with regards to environmental protection. Weren't LHR the 1st one to impose beyond Phase 4 noise stds?

Profil utilisateur Message privé Suggérer la supression
  Message de G-NIKO - Envoyé le 28 Aug 14:54

oh those enviromental protesters are so flippin annoying because they seem to blame everything on avation e.g the camp at heathrow, Stanstead runway plans. Aviation only cause 1% out of the worlds gasses.

Profil utilisateur Message privé Suggérer la supression
Message de SJR - Envoyé le 28 Aug 21:43

Well if Hong Kong can build two Islands into one for an airport, Japan can create a man made island for an airport and many countries can change the flow of rivers for dam projects and other things i am sure Dundee could expand in this way. However the environmental issue is there and the damage would have to be assessed.

Message de FLX - Envoyé le 29 Aug 11:26

G-NIKO:
The enviromentalists are right, commercial aviation is the main devil of pollution and Al Gore should travel around the world only by bike, sailboats, rickshaws, etc. to give his global warming seminars....

SJR:
Do U know how much damage the construction of HKG has done to the sea area around it? There used to be some fisheries(1 source of the world famous Hong Kong seafood), wildlife and even local dolphins(I hv seen them on a greenpeace tour and they're pinkish colour species unique to the South China Sea) but almost all are gone now. U don't hear a lot about this because the environmental activists represent under 0.001% of the local population and most of them are expatriates anyway. The gov't has also been doing a very effective job in keeping their voices low or silent(Hong Kong has been a capitalist heaven but never a western-style democracy). Trust me, things which they can get away with when building a mega-airport in Asia can never happen without a major public outcry if repeated in any Western country.

In the offshore KIX, the Japanese gov't has paid hefty compensation to the fishing industry. It was the most expensive airport project @ over US$20 billion and the airport island itself was sinking faster than expected(8meters since opening in 94!) before they implemented a series of costly counter-measures. The newer NGO, also built offshore, has learnt fm the KIX experience so it's more eco-friendly but the cost is still astronomical. Both airports hv the potential to be economically viable only because they're geared for large scale 24hrs inter-continental pax+cargo traffics(e.g. The biggest Toyota plants worldwide and the biggest Boeing 787 contractors are all within 30mins drive fm NGO's cargo terminal).

So yes, Dundee can technically be expanded via the man-made island approach. But unless it's planned to become a major inter-continental/int'l pax+cargo gateway, I wonder about the econ feasibility of such an expansion. Airports built on man-made islands are ultra-costly.
