Has anyone got any thoughts on the  spooky  fact that this 737 crashed on  7-3-7  ? Is it safe to fly in a 747 on April 7, 2007 ? Has there been an incident with a  Threeholer  (727) on Feb 7,2007 ? And the list will go on as the year progresses: 757 on May 7, 767 in June, July the month of the 777. And where does the 707 fit ? In October ?
Back to the incident, it should be considered, that the worst scrap metal is flown in the worst climatic region, for aircraft as well as human beings. Overshooting the runway points either to brake failure or human error based on fatigue. Let's see, what the reports will find.
Sincere condolences to the families of the innocent victims.

That doesn't freak me out, but being at that airport just about 6 weeks ago does a bit. I also flew on Garuda, though it was a different plane.

Was the PK-GZC a B737-400, 23 killed, 117 injured.
Was 140 pax and seven crew on board!

Like many others accidents in Indonesia, i think is problem of aircraft maintenance.

Indonesia needs planes to get around to most of the islands. But few people can afford to pay very much to fly. I flew from JOG-DPS on Guarda about 6 weeks ago. It was about an hour long flight for about $50. Out of all the airlines that fly domestic routes Garuda is the most expensive. The prices are very cheap, I guess that comes through in their reliability.

Its not really clear what happened in this crash yet. But it wouldn't surprise me if it came down to maintenance. I'm planning on going back to Indonesia by the end of the year, but I doubt I will be flying garuda.

there has been many problems with the 737 over the years. It was admitted that the authorities wouldn't ground them as they are used by too many companies. I was really suprised seeing that if so many people are travelling on them obviously their not to concerned about passenger safety if so many companies are using them! Below are some of the more recent 737 inncidents.:
1 Jan 07 737-400 Adam Air
29 Sept 06 737 GOL
22 Oct 05 737 Bellview
5 Sept 05 737 Mandala Airlines
22 Aug 05 737 - 200 Tans Airline
14 Aug 05 737 Helios
16 Jul 05 737 Kam Air
3 Jan 04 737 Flash Airlines
8 Jul 03 737 Sudan Airways
6 Mar 03 737 Air Algerie
16 Jan 02 737 Garuda
7 May 02 737 Egyptair
These are just problems with Fatalities so obviously there are more problems and crashs from the 737.
The authorites where quick enough with Concorde but not the 737.

The people on board of B737-4M0 PK-GZC had only one minute to escape from emergency landings. That's why the 23 killed. The aircraft was almost full of Passengers.

markallday, was four Indonesian jets, 737s with this recent accident. And the Boeing 737 is a great plane has prooved!

The accident with B737-8EH of GOL was provoked not a simple fatality.

What's is going on with the Indonesian carriers?
indonesian government is planning to ban aircraft with more than 10 years old and Indonesia has 23 airlines, only needs 5 to 10 airlines. In February all B737-300s of Adam Jets was grounded. Here in U.S. there are almost a thousand B737s flying and in good conditions, with no incidents. So...i think in Indonesia is a problem of bad maintenance. The Boeing 737 is a good plane for sure!

An independent auditor must do inspection to GMF (Garuda Maintenance Facility) [http://www.gmf-aeroasia.co.id] as most of planes in Indonesia are under this company maintenance. Are they following the SOP? Nobody touch this maintenance company.

As I known during the time there were George and Jacob Storms and the point was AdiSucipto Airport nearby. Preliminary report from Safety Commission and also Aviation Experts, there was turbulence that caused the plane down. What should to be confirmed is the pilot action after turbulance, did he act correctly or not??. I don't think there is a problem in maintanance. The last C-Check from FAA was on February 7, 2007. And so far, Garuda was very strict for maintanance. So, let's wait for the black box results.

Let's wait!

A question not solved...what about the Adam Jet crashed results?
The point is still opened!

Why Australia is evaluating the crash of Garuda Airplane?
