I have been reminiscing with speedbird9468 about some of the older props we used to work on and the excitement these types used to generate.
Has anyone out there got any memories of working on the older props or flying in them or even as a young spotter watching them aroung the world.
As a young spotter in the 60's (that's the 1960's) I remember types such as The Ambassador in Autair and Dan-Air colours,
the Douglas Piston Props (DC-3, DC-4, DC-6 and DC-7). Then there was the Dove and Heron and the familiar Viscounts and Vangaurds along with my bestest prop liner The Britannia. We were fortunate in the UK to have so many flying with so many companies and I loved to see them in Caledonian and British Eagle colours. We had Donaldson, Lloyd International, Britannia, Monarch, Laker and so on.
The last Brit I saw in active service was a Cubana 300 srs on a fuel stop at Prestwick. Need to look back my old log book for the details and will also give you details of the last active flight I saw of a Constalation.
Come on old timers let's tell the young pups what they lost out on.

Bloody Ell!! I'm not that old, well I don't think so. Hehehe. I certainly rember the Dan Air 748's . And even flew a few times on a DC3. But I always wanted to go on a Vanguard and Britania They for me were the best old props around. Even the Electra I liked. Nowadays the Orion. I'm not sure if Chanex still have some old Electras. They entered there fleet just as I was leaving the compnay.

What a great time it was. I reacll going with my father to Lindbergh field and watching the PSA BAE 146's come and go along with the UAL DC87/B741, TWAB762, NWA B752, COA B721/B722, Pride Air B722, SWA B732, AAL B722, and the occasional military charter B742 on Transamerica. Now the best we get our the B763 from HAL,DAL, and UPS. FDX DC10/A300/A310. AAL B762.
