Hello! Is there somebody who knows how long runway requires Boeing 737 SFP to be able to operate??

In Rio de Janeiro Santos Dumont airport SDU, one of most sortest runways, the lenght is 2289 m and GOL has a good number of B737-8EH SFP, specially to operate on runway like this. AIRFLEETS.NET STAFF PHOTO SCREENER

I find this interesting. I used to live near BOH ( England) the runway lenght is similar to that of Santos Dumont at about 2,200 meters. The 737-800's of Ryan Air and Air Berlin don't have a problem Also they operate regular 767's and 757's. They even did a 747-200 non stop to New York. The only thing I guess the SFP version of the 800 is due to the heat in Rio or the type of Approach there. I remember I flew into there once. It looked as though we were gonna hit Sugar Loaf.

Just for information the Main runway 08/26 at BOH is 7.451 feet or 2.271 metres.

The first airline to operate the SFP version of the 800 was GOL, that have ordered to oprate in RIO SDU. Others version of 800 winglet included can't operate in SDU. The version is for oprate first on SDU and other shoters runways like BOH, as you mentioned. AIRFLEETS.NET STAFF PHOTO SCREENER

Hi Werker 737. Before GOl got its 737-800 sfp BOH was allready operating that type of plane. What I don't understand is why SDU with a runway of similar leght to BOH has to operate with a SPF aircraft. Whrn BOH doesn't have a problem. The only thing I can think of is the heat of SDU and the approach pattern. Does anyone have any more ideas about this?

Yes, I've got an idea. SDU runway IS NOT 2289 m. The longest runway in SDU is 1289 m. That's why 737 need SFP to operate in SDU

I don't know about the SFP version, but if you want to look at standard 737 types, go to: Boeing.com/commercial/737family/specs.html How does the SFP gain extra performance ? Drooping ailerons, LEAPS package, uprated engine or what ? Often with LEAPS packages they tell you the runway performance is improved by 7% so you can work it out from the performance graphs for the standard version.

Brazilian carrier GOL, started the operations in SDU with its 737-8EH(SFP), last march. It's on the shuttle service from CGH. AIRFLEETS.NET STAFF PHOTO SCREENER
