Why are we British so down on BA ?
Why would we rather support VA or BD or even sing the praises of Easy or Ryanair (not British)
Go on let it rip let's hear what you have to say.
Anyone going to defend them ? There must be someone out there who has a good word to say about The World's Favourite Airline.
I may even come back in on this one later on when the dust settles.

Sadly there are three things about BA i don't like:
-They only operate from London after abondoning the rest of the country on the most part in the 80's and now almost completly. This questions whether they still cover Britain as this should include the midlands, the north, northern ireland, scotland and wales and not just one city.
-They have extremely high prices compared with other national carriers, which would be okay if i could travel from Manchester but i have to travel to London. I would personally rather travel for less money and go through a european destination than pay more to use British Airways and still have to commute to London
-They withdrew Concorde from service and then would not allow a flying version to remain flying at airshows. Granted i can see why they would not want to give it to Virgin Atlantic for nothing, although it would have looked great in those colours
On the other hand i think they do provide a good service as my sister seemed to be happy and she isn't to easy to please.
One other thing though, i have never heard good things about Ryanair. People only seem to bring up the bad. The amount of rumours going round about Ryanair only enforce this.
Easyjet i have flown with and found the service all in all very pleasent.
I have also heard a rumour that BA got the name worlds favourite airline by sending a questionnair to their employees.

I have yet to see most of the types you just mentioned. I wanted to see Concorde flying but never did, except for the last landing at Manchester. Wanted to see and hear a take-off but again i never did. I also miss the tri-jets and other types with character. These days all the jets look the same (rather boring really). The 787 will be interesting as will the A380 but when they are going to be in large numbers they too will become just another jet.
To be honest the main thing i personally like about Concorde is the fact that only the English/French could do it successfully, where America and Russia, two much larger countries failed.

I agree in some off the points being said!! They do claim to be one of the cheapest airlines, but there not! Im palnning on flying to amsterdam soon and there quotes were one of the highest. Also concorde, fair enough they didnt give it to Virgin Atlantic, but now one sits at the back of LHR doing nothing, its near North Perimeter road normally where South African Airlines parks up. Yes go on put it in a museums or on show, but instead they leave the beautiful girl sitting their. So yes im not the biggest fan of BA either im sorry to say.

They don't operate enough flights from different locations around the UK (more flights from MAN or even LIV would be good) and they don't compete properly on desirable routes from MAN specifically. There aren't enough transatlantic routes from anywhere outside of LHR and LGW - its a sad day when I can get a quicker flight from MAN to ORD on Aer Lingus than BA!
I think Brits are still sour over the Concorde issue as well. It was a matter of national pride.

i agree with most of these points. It is possible to get return tickets to places in europe with cheaper airlines than it is to get a oneway ticket with BA and of course the employees are goin to say that BA is the worls favorite airline. If they dont Ba will find some way to get back at them whether it is to sack them or take them to court!!!!!!!
i also so agree about Ryanair I HATE RYANAIR!!!!
i would rather pay huge prices to fly with BA than to go cheap and fly with RYANAIR!
and lets remind our selves that BA is a luxary airline!!

I have flown with BA many times and have never had cause for complaint. As you say SJR they are one of the best carriers in the business today. I also flew with (but don't tell anyone as it gives my age away) B.O.A.C. and B.E.A. who came together to form B.A. and again their standards were very high in particular B.O.A.C.
The nature of travel today will ensure that B.A. will not service the regions in future as we tend to look for fares a lot cheaper than B.A. hence the reason the buget carriers are doing so well in the regions.
I have said in this and other threads that I HATE RYANAIR and what have I gone and done booked with them for DUB in March and will either use them again or Aer Lingus for DUB in February. What am I ? Just like others looking for cheap flights. I will let you all know what these flights are like and the boarding chaos at DUB is just a nightmare.

We Brits love knocking anything even half successful it`s out tradition like queing!!
Having said that BA could do much much better -offer more flights not using the black hole of Heathrow for a start -- then provide a decent seat pitch 31 is a joke and compares very badly with their main long haul competitors. Lastly get some cabins staff with a sense of humour and a smile.

Don't knock em , they are not always the most expensive option . This march they can do LGW to las palmas return for £105 compare this to £170 on monarch or £125 with thomsonfly . Far superior service when you get everything all in....baggage allowance meals and drinks . However the flight are only BA branded and operated by GB airways . Have not flown mainline BA services for a while but never found them that bad .
As for Ryanair i must say never again !! Nice shiny new planes..very uncomfortable seats and cabin crew who cant speak english and thats just a domestic flight . And the reason for them only wanting you to take hand luggage is that they will only lose/destroy it anway .
Easyjet does exactly what it says on the tin . Very efficient but the only problem is the mismanagement of London Luton airport.

So what is being said here can basically be summed up by:
British Airways : Excellent service but on the most part too expensive and not widely dispersed enough
Ryanair : Not very good (and thats putting in nicely)
Easyjet : Lives up to it promises
and i will add to this Jet 2.com
Not the best i have flown with but probably better than Ryanair and slightly poorer than Easyjet. The leg room is a little tight and food isn't served on morning flights (sandwiches). Shame i was hungry on route to Amsterdam, here have a kitkat, like that is going to fill up an 18 year old. Still not the worst i have flown with
Air Scandic will always take that crown i am beginning to suspect

I have absolutely no problems with BA whatsoever.
I must fly BA to LHR and from there to go the United States(with BA or AA,in most cases AA),but in the 45 minute flight from AMS to LHR they offer you something to eat.
So I agree that the service is excellent on the ground and in the air.
