What megergers would you like to see. As it now looks unlikely that the DAL/USA deal will go through are there any other mergers you would like to see come to fruition? Personally, I think a COA/ASA/HAL three way merger would be great. Fleet commonality is very important. COA' all Boeing fleet consists of entirely 2-class aircraft, B733(48), B735(63), B737(36=36 on order), B738(105+2), B739(12+24), B752(41), B753(17), B762(10), B764(16), B772(16+2), and B788(+20). Hubs: IAH, EWR, CLE, GUM. ASA operates a fleet of Boeing 737 and MD80 aircraft which are amongst the youngest around, B732(5), B734(40), B737(22), B738(14), B739(12), MD83(23. Hubs: SEA, ANC, PDX, LAX, YVR. The average HAL fleet age is 8 years, B712(11), B763(16). Hubs: HNL, OGG. The route networks dont overlap anywhere so that's one less thing the regulators can complain about. Your thoughts?

There aren't any to be honest. Like to see some name changes though the following one especially

British Airways to become London Airways and make it official. Now that BA Connect (bacon) is to be sold to Flybe they only operate one service based outside London (Manchester to New York). GB Airways, Sun Air, Loganair and BMED are obviously not British Airways as they have seperate management and are subsidiary brands. Bacon was completely controlled by British Airways. Not sure who should be the national carrier now. VS and BD are too small so maybe a merger between the two would cover it. Suppose were stuck with BA and will have to commute to London (yeah rite). I would rather travel with LH, AF or KL via Europe than pay twice as much to fly to London and travel with BA.

Too bad for you folks across the pond that you don't have more of a choice in long-haul travel. There's always AAL, UAL, or DAL.

Too bad for you folks across the pond that you don't have a long haul airline that is in profit unlike BA BD & VS all making money so we must have something going for us.

The Brits and Europeans can certainly run Airlines just look at Mr. Willie Walsh what he did for Aer Lingus and what he is doing for BA

As part of the EEC (as you guys are part of the USA) we have a wide choice of long haul airlines to choose from.

AF BA BD EI IB KL LH SK VS and on and on and on - so we are not all that bad off for choice.

Let's not desire mergers as this reduces competition and then no one will have a choice.

Whoah there captain bill I'm not saying that AAL or the others are any good just saying that you don't have much of a choice for long haul unless you want to backtrack through London. Nothing against you all but you have to give props to Herb Kelleher. BTW, most of the US airlines are making a profit, of course not DAL or NWA. But in all fairness, the service really does suck.

Continental is definately making a profit. I think United and American just left the stage that Northwest and Delta are in at the moment. I think no mergers are needed. Some route changes perhaps but no mergers

Take your point Skid Kid I was having a bad day so had to have a go. I have great admiration for all things American and have worked for a US based Airline so I know the score.

No offence intended.
