Information on past flights

Greetings.
I just discovered this site and would like to fill out my flight log with accurate information. However, even though I have the dates (and sometimes the flight number) for most of my past flights, I'm usually missing the aircraft's registration number. I sent emails to Delta Airlines and Air Canada but I doubt I'll get an answer from them.
Is there any way I could obtain the missing information?

Hi, yes there is : you can visit Airliners.net and try to find the aircraft usinf the search engine. I've used this many times to find the a/c's reg.
The other way is to go on http://flightaware.com/ and there you can search the flight number and try to find it's reg, but it's not very easy.
I hope you'll find the aircrafts' reg.

Thank you for the links. Sadly, the flights I'm trying to get more information on are from the early 1990's. Very few pictures on airliners.net cover that period, and FlightAware doesn't seem to have a historical database either. I'm starting to think that I'll probably never be able to fill out this information. I'll try rummaging around my souvenir boxes again, but I doubt this will yield any success.
On a side note, I received a response from Air Canada's customer service basically telling me that this information is no longer available .

My pleasure to help you.
I think if your flights were operated in 1990's... you won't find info about them anymore, even from the airline. I don't think they will keep all the old info about their flights. It is very dificult to find an a/c's reg again. But let me give you a tip, on you're next flight, if you do flightspotting, take your camera and take the a/c you will fly, specially his reg number. They if you want do some flightspotting!  And if you can't see the reg number or for any other reason, you can ask a (kind) F/A to give you the tail number.
I remeber my last flight CDG-MIA on AF : From Paris, I had the chance to see the reg (it was F-GEXB) but on the return flight, at Miami airport it was impossible to see the plane, so I asked a kind F/A who gave me the reg (and it was F-GEXB again, and she also told me that she came on F-GEXA the previous day).
Some companies like SU (Aeroflot) give ALL the information about the flight on their site : The Aircraft type, his reg, the time... everything! But this info is available for a few days only.
Hope you'll find the reg someday...
Oh yeah just a question... I saw you have flown Air Transat to CDG. Is it a good company?

I only recently discovered an interest into planes and aviation in general, so I have made sure to write down the reg #'s for the aircraft I boarded recently. I am positive the airlines do have records of which plane flew when and to where, even 20-30 years ago (aircraft flight hours are logged, at the very least). That information is probably archived after a few years, however, and is thus difficult to obtain unless you have connections - I would assume.
As for Air Transat... well, they had the best price at the time and the dates and times suited me. They operate charters to Carribean destinations as well as to Europe. The service is adequate and the aircraft I boarded were clean and usually recent - though I'm not too fond of the A330-200 with the 3-3-3 seat configuration. Their A330-300 was 2-4-2 which was more comfortable. I assume that, like most budget airlines, you get what you pay for.
I'm considering Zoom Airlines for my next flight to Paris. They operate 767's that formerly flew for KLM and Air France, I believe - and seem to have pretty good prices.

An Airbus A330 with 3-3-3 config? Like a 777? Are they crazy?
Have they got PTV?
Zoom is a new airline for me, with a nice looking livery, but you know, if Air Canada flies the 767 to Paris, and if Zoom is cheaper then AC, fly Zoom (it's all about Money).
Air France is a very good company, but a very expensive one too for direct flights. So if you want a great service, take AF but only if you are OK to pay more than 500€/ticket!

Yes, their A330-200 is configured as 3-3-3. Thankfully it was only half full when I flew on it so the girlfriend and I each had 3 seats to ourselves... At least the aircraft was recent (C-GPTS first flew in May 2002) and the seats were comfortable if not for their reduced width. I do prefer their A330-300 with their 2-4-2 configuration however, even though it's still a bit tight. Then again, I can endure *some* incomfort if it means I save a few hundred dollars - after all, I'd rather have more money leftover for the actual vacation...

Crazy Air Transat!
I remeber an AF flight from CDG to MIA on an A340-300. The seats were 2-4-2 but they were not comfortable at all (I felt pain in my but for one day! lol). They had PTV and I watched a few films, and played games. I also remember another flight, from BEY to CDG on an AF 777, the screens were small but enough to watch TV but the loading time to play a game was very long! But it was last year, since then AF changed the cabin to introduce the 'Nouveaux espaces du voyage', and I will fly them in a few weeks to BEY! I hope the screens will be bigger than last time!

That's right, but in AF the pax are not as queezed as in other companies : compare AC and AF : in Air Canada they have 286 seats on their A340-300 and Air France have 252. But of course you can't the same comfort of your house!
'Espace' and 'Voyage' can go together... if you fly in First (L'espace Première) and pay about 4000 € for a ticket!
I'm OK with you for the 'flying sardines'! lol Spacially with AA, a very bad company. I flew them only what time, and believe me it was the first and last time!
