Oh i'm so sorry, I read  AUSTRIAN  airlines, so it makes i little difference lol!

I saw somewhere that jetstar will operate Qantas' A330-200 and they (Jetstar) will take delivery of the 787 before Qantas!

I saw that Australian Airlines ceased operations since the beggining of this month. Their fleet was not good : A300s 737s and 757s... but they had a many planes!

JetStar's aircrafts are good but all the 717 are second hands! Will they be replaced soon or are they going to fly a little more with JetStar?

Australian Airlines  brand  which operates 6 x B767-338ER's will cease to exist from July 2006 - here is the article

http://www.australianairlines.com.au/2006_04_11_AO.html

Qantas instead will build up its Jetstar  brand  which currently operates 24xA320-232 and 6xB717 to include A330's and eventually B787's

all the best, Trevor

Jetstar, Qantas's low budget airline will get all of Qantas A330's cause Qantas is not happy with these aircraft's.

Eventually when the 787's join their fleet. It will phase out those useless A330...

Qantas got a huge discount on these A330's cause Airbus wanted Qantas to buy the A380 and for them just to buy a Airbus aircraft cause Qantas is a major Boeing operator...

This is why Qantas has such a good safety record and a good name. Their fleet mainly consist of an all Boeing family 737, 767, 747's... Then soon the 787 will join... That huge order for the 787 will make them even better...

Not sure about their A380 order though....
They should have ordered the 747-800...

Its always  Better the Devil You Know ....

No, Not all of QF's A330s, only A330-200s. And Qantas is happy with their A330, I don't know where you have found that...

Klown, if you use this very website wisely, you will be able to educate yourself that Qantas has been an Airbus customer since 1998. If it did not value Airbus equipment, it would not have currently 23 x A320-200's + 4 x A330-200's + 10 x A330-300's in its current inventory. Nor would it be investing in its future large transport carrying capacity with the A380, for which it has a firm order of 12 ( plus options )

Qantas is a commercial airline and free to purchase aircraft from whom ever it choses. So it has a mixed fleet with both Boeing and Airbus manufacturered aircraft. So what ? So do many other carriers.

It may come as a surprise to you but Qantas is extremely happy and pleased with the performance of its A330 family, just as Northwest Airlines are with their's.

And as for that  huge  order of B787's that you refer to, ask yourself is this 35 brand new aircraft coming into the fleet ? Wow what a huge capacity increase that would be for Qantas -or- is this as replacement to existing Boeing equipment, which is (a) aging and (b) more costly to operate than the B787 ?

You know much can be learned from this website and also the carriers website itself. It will help you to be more accurately informed, to sort out the fact from fiction.

all the best, Trevor

Hi again,
For info, the B787 that QF ordered will replace the actual B767 and some A330 (because QF's A330-200 will go to JetStar).
And personally, I don't know where you have found that QF ordered the 747-800.
Personally, I think this a/c will not be sold and maybe the 747-800 Intercontinental project will be canceled by Boeing...

But just a question, Why QF is not considering the A350 (or A370 if it will be renamed...)

Thanks,
See u!

cesar666cu2 - G'day - In answer to your question  most likely , BUT   you   should contact the airline directly (Australian Airlines upto 30th June or Qantas ). If you booked through a travel agent, have your travel agent do so. This way you will know 100% for sure what your new flight number will be, and which  brand  you will be flying on. Do not leave this until the last minute. Sorry can not assist further

all the best, Trevor
