SQ are replacing their older generation 744s with 773ERs. Many have been sold like 9V-SMA,SMB,SMC,SMD,SME,SMF,SMG,SMH,SMI,SMK,SML,SMN,SMO and SMQ.

Hi,

I don't think they have withdrawn SPC yet. It has recently been fitted with Connextion by Boeing inflight broadband and it also appears to have undergone maintenance recently. Either way the 9V-SP_ series are likely to stay for now.

I would think the most likely 744s to go this year and early 2007 will be the earlier 744s not fitted with the Connexion by Boeing. These are SMJ, SMM, SMR, SMT, SMU, SMV, SMW, SMZ.

Cheers.

Thanks mate for the info but I remember I've heard from somewhere that CX will be buying 9V-SPC from SQ. However I'm not sure how true izzit. If the SPC is being fitted with Connextion, why would SQ replaced it??

Positive.
SMQ is coming back from (or has already) from El Al and I've already completed my portion of the engineering to convert it to CX pax configuration.

SMH will be converted to freighter configuration in XMN.

I see, thanks for clarifying.

I had no idea SMQ will join the pax fleet. Will CX be converting any more of their own 747-467s for freight? How many more of the ex SQ 744s bound for CX become freight and how many become pax?

Do you know which regs will go to KA Cargo?

RJA.

No

9V-SMQ, 9V-SMV and 9V-SPD will become CX pax.
9V-SMH and 9V-SMR will become CX freighters.
ZS-SAV and ZS-SAW are also going to join B-HOU as convertered freighters for CX.

Cheers,

Looks like plenty of expansion for CX ahead! I didn't know they increased the number of used 744s they plan on taking from 8 to 10.
