I am going to upgrade cameras (Around $1000-$1800). What you would recommend?
I am thinking of Canon EOS 20D.

Thanks

Douglas

Good choice I have the 20D, I looked long and hard at all alternatives (Nikon D70, Fuji S3, Oly E1, KM 7D, Pentax ist D) but canons lens, system accessories and bang for the buck just all pointed towards the 20D being the best for what I want. It's got more MP, faster frame rate, bigger buffer, better high ISO performance, it really is a no brainer. Also with the Eos system you can get the awesome 70-200 F4.0L which is a bargin of a lens and wickedly sharpe for a zoom.

You could take a look at the 350D, almost the same performance (slower FPS, smaller buffer) but if you have medium to large hands it's way too small, it must have been designed for women or asians.

Hi. In my opinion you should think not only in the camera, but also on the lenses. But whatever your choice is, if possible go for a digital SLR. Best wishes

The most important is the lens, I use the Canon 300D and I'm proud of it

I have had the 300D for 18 months now with a Sigma 50-500mm lens on it, Miguel is right, pick a good lens and the rest will come together.

I have the 300D Canon, only had it since March, but what a difference from both the Minolta Dynax 500si SLR and also have the Fujifilm S3000 Digital. Only thing I have found, which Canon says is normal on both the 300D and 350D,is a small rattle when you move it side to side or up and down. They say a small ball bearing inside,I think its s manufacturing fault with them. However a great camera and I have taken many photos since I purchased it. around NZ$2000. Of course they have now dropped in price, typical.

I don't know why people pipe up with suggestions on cameras (300D) that aren't sold anymore, its pointless.

The 20D is a good choice, get the kit with the 17-85 IS, I would then add the 70-200 F4.0, it's a pretty good kit which should be more than good enough for most situations. If you need more reach a 1.4 teleconverter is a good idea.

hi all

kiwirob the 300D is still for sale over here
here's a link to it

http://www.tweakers.net/pricewatch/64725

so still for sale here and you can by one and the can send it to you're place if you want(stilll you have to pay for it but its possible)

I'm going to by this kit next month with the 18-55 within and also by the 75-300 f4,0-5,6 IS USM so than got a great combination.and still the 300D is a great camera, also I could choose the 350D butt my hands are to big for that camera .
oke there's always better butt if you dont have the cash for it you have to take another......

Greetz,

The 300D is a nasty wee thing, I know I used one for a while, it's also been discontinued so they are selling old stock. You should buy a 350D which is light years better, get the battery grip which makes it better for the big hands.

Cheers

Rob
