Am I right in thinking that there are a great number of contributors no longer logging on to this site since the picture pages went.

If your still out there lads come on there must be something you want to talk about.

I was thinking the same, these pages have been rather quiet of late. I say we keep posting!!! I find the discussion on these pages to be fantastic and I hope it will continue!

I was a daily visitor and regular contributor on the photograph front, I not really aware as to why the photo section was finished, I suspect financial.

I think that the majority will go to sites that have the ability to both view and upload photos.

The sad part being that this site showed peoples photo contributions to great effect, and were enjoyed by thousands of people.

I still use the site on a very odd occasion for reference purposes, but I'm afraid that is becoming rare.

Other sites like APZ and photos, aero are picking up the considerable gap left in the most popular section, ie: photographs.

Bring back the photos, and I'll be the first in the queue.

lack of photos, and maybe those irritating pop-ups will keep most contributors (like me) away...

Why bother, without photos theres no point as there are plenty of other forums and most are just as good as this. This site is now irrelevant!

IT SEEMS THAT MOST FOLKS WHO HAVE COME TO THIS SITE IN THE PAST HAVE NO REAL OPINIONS ABOUT THE AIRLINE INDUSTRY THEY SAY THEY CARE FOR BUT ONLY WANT TO SEE PHOTOS.

As someone who has been around this industry as a spotter and a worker for 45 years I am saddened by this that all you want to do is see nice colour pictures of aircraft but have no real ideas as to where the industry is going or where it has come from. When I was younger before there was such a thing as Internet I would have given my back teeth for such a forum where we could exchange views but it seems the younger generation are only and will only be plane spotters rather than have and share opinions with others.

I will as long as the site is active and I am spared in health and strength visit this site and share my thoughts and ideas with any and all who are interested and I do hope that all who have deserted will one day mature enough to come back and let us know their mind on things.

I look forward to future debates among the few who have great passion left for the site and for the industry..

By the way I have no connection with on know anyone who runs this site but speak as one who has enjoyed over the last few years my visits to it and felt I have gotten to know so many well informed people.

Joy to the world and the few who remain.

Captain Bill,

May I respectfully say that as a newcomer to the Civil aviation scene I find that spotting and photting planes is a facinating and healthy pursuit which I am enjoying very much. I did have a few photos on this site but my main reason for visiting was not to look at the 'pretty pictures' but to add to it in my own small way with perhaps a photo that had not been seen here before.

As for my interest in aviation generally I must admit I have leaned towards the military in the past and I have an enthusiasts interest and similar concerns as yourself about the demise of the aviation industry generally especially the UK based manufacturers. I am just old enough to remember the days of English Electric, Hawker Siddley etc, all swallowed up or gone now.

Anyway I digress as I was meaning to say I did occasionally pop the odd comment into one or two threads but I have to admit that I felt out of my depth most of the time as most topics I didnt have a clue what was being discussed there were so many abreviations and terminology used that to tell the truth made me feel unwelcome so its alright for people like yourself with the knowledge and experience you have but spare a thought for us beginers as the only way we have of learning is by using this modern fangled internet thing and if it was the pictures that brought us here in the first place then it should be no suprise that we perhaps look elsewhere?

To close I will say that I wish the site good fortune for the future as I do pop in from time to time to update myself on a/c registrations, construction numbers and operators.

Kind regards.

I have been reluctant to do what I am about to do for fear of being killed on this forum. And the following comments are not meant to insult or offend anyone.

I, personally, really actually prefer the new set up of this site. I never used it for photos, as I preferred the set up of other sites. I used, and continue to use it to check info for regs and for the flight log. And as a long time airliners.net user I love the links to it for photos. I in no way mean to undermine the great efforts of the photographers who spent so many hours taking so many photos, which seem to be so sadly missed by so many on this site.

I think this forum is a fantastic place to discuss the industry with so many informed people and to share views and opinions, and I will continue to do so as long as this forum exists.

John Morris please please don't think that we don't value your comments I'm sure we all do and it is always good to hear what other people think. If we don't ask we will never learn so everyone out there please ask away and give us your ideas on what you think. If there is any part of an answer or statement anyone makes that you don't understand just ask and I'm sure it will be explained.
Although some on this forum are involved in the industry most of us are still big kids at heart and love plane spotting and no one will take that away from me. I don't care if my friends think I am an anorak I just love it and enjoy communicating with others who do also.

Well, let it be as it is now - there are plenty of other sites with  Plane Pictures . Here I find information needed for spotting, for which I thank you.
Keep up this great site, please.

I used to come here to get information on the aircraft I had seen and photographed (for my own pleasure, no one else's)

I found the photos a pleasant distraction, and only posted a couple

But, whenever I get a new photo, I come here and check out the details, where it came from, and for some of the older ones, where they have gone (I used to go to a site run by a guy called Bill Harms, and was pointed here after he 'shut up shop')
I also like the fact that more types are being supported - now to find some so I can take advantage of that fact

I do find all the ads and pop-ups annoying, but I understand that revenue to keep the site up and going needs to come from somewhere

I don't contribute a lot to the forums, but read most of the entries with interest.

I say, to each their own

Bill Harms used to be one of sources of plane data, and I had posted quite a few pictures, however the flight logging and plane data are what I find interesting, and there are links provided to several photo sites from the plane data page, so there is a portal to other site provided.

Since I sent the original thread there was a little interest but now everyone has either gone on extended holidays or have given up on the site.

What can we do to get you back and discussing all thats going on in the industry.

SITE MONITOR ANY IDEAS FROM YOURSELF.

That's easy, captain bill. Pick a topic and start a thread right here.

I check this forum at least once a wk. Sadly, I found I hv nothing to contribute lately since most topics are very localized and out of my league.
