The article says it all really, but it seems that BA might be lining up his successor already, here's the link:

I don't think Mr. Walsh will be pushed but I do think he will go within the next two years. Unofficial sources are saying that a number on  major  carriers in the USA are after him and I do think he could do well over the pond.

Let's never forget the job he has done in turning BA around and some of us have seen this for ourselves. He also has a good pedigree at EI but as you said EI-DUB in another thread he is a hire and fire man who has his own agenda and regardless of advice given he will fulfill his agenda to the letter.

Heard this morning on the radio that Willie has refused his bonus even though BA have announced profits.

He cites the fact that over the last few years they have worked to cut costs, and now with costs at their highest in years, he think it would be inappropriate to take the bonus as he said that passengers will be forced to pay higher prices soon. Also I'd say the terminal 5 fiasco might play a part in his reasoning!

An admirable call I think by Mr. Walsh.

Mr Walsh seems like a guy who's tough on his staff and tough on himself. Pretty consistent.

Tougher on his staff. he lets a lot of them go.....not just refusing them bonuses or the like!!!

there would be an element of being mindful of the media and PR by refusing the bonus.

Yes your right EI-DUB the PR side is important and anyway missing out on his bonus will not affect him one way or the other as his salary would keep you, me and FLX in a style that we have never known.

He has his own agenda and sticks to it and anyone who gets in his way will soon know it but he is also a fair man and many of his top managers will tell you this.

As I'v said before he is admired in certain quarters in the US for his brash manner and skills in turning poor into good so he has a long career before him yet whither in Europe or the USA.
