Or whichever way you want to look at it. How will this affect operations from SOU.

it is a fact that Ryanair load factors are getting lower from the hubs that they now operate from. This is due to the extremely poor service they provide so what do the do they move to a new hub with great pomp and publicity and attract into the web of deceit new punters who have never used them before. This is fine until word gets around that they are a poor outfit and then they move on somewhere else.

Ryanair come in with fares such as they are advertising today at Edinburgh Airport £10 one way to Alicante but as we all know they can't sustain these fares for too long and so up go the costs.

I think they will get a run for their money at EDI as here we have a local airline FLYGLOBESPAN going to many if not more destinations in Europe as the say they will fly to. They also have JET2.COM the pride of the North East flying from Edinburgh so look out for a real price war.

Back to your question about SOU no I don't think it will make much difference to FlyBE's loads to EDI as FR didn't make much of their route BOH-PIK nor sadly has any airline flying from BOH to GLA or EDI. BOH may just be a little too far west for the majority of people going to GLA/EDI but we will see what happens.

You could be right there CPT Bill. I can Also see I maybe be wrong routes from BRS and EXT that could affect BOH.

Lot of new bases opening these days.... you'd swear they were desperately looking for parking for lots and lots of brand new boeings......

And then you couldn't have them sitting around doing nothing, so you'd have to open lots of new routes, and then if demand was slack you'd have to give really low fares to try and up your load factors......

I've said it before: overcapacity at its best.

They bought too many planes. end of.

With all thse bases being opened up. I sometimes think that maybe Fr is creating many new routes as possible so they could maybe offer long haul flights to one of the bases (hopefully BOH) then they'd have the connections to other places within the EU. Its just my opinion but a possibility for future.

If and when FR start long haul services I would assume it will be initially from DUB as they can feed passengers from all over Europe and the UK for connection. I hope it never happens but I do think it will come sooner rather than later.

EI-DUB you have more insight into this than most of us and it would be good to hear your thoughts.

There was an announcement there last year that they would set up a longhual arm, but it wouldn't be called Ryanair it would be a separate entity, that could indeed then feed into their network.
although that goes against their point to point model, so I think they will want to spread longhaul ops across their European bases rather than one hub IF and when it may start.

Any such airline is a long while away though.
