Too bad, it is like A380's problem, delay....
A lot of airlines will get effected. They might cancel some orders like what lots of them did to a380.
Too bad for me too, my flight will be a waste going to SEA to do nothing!

Agree, some airlines may cancel their 787 orders similar to what happended to the 388. However, I think more will look for late penalty payment. Worst of all, this may seriously affect delivery availability for major airlines which hv not ordered the Dreamliner yet but are considering. Before Boeing announced this latest delay, earliest delivery available for new orders was 2013-14. The delay will certainly push that date back further and by then, plenty of 350 production will also be available according to Airbus' plan. There'll be no diff between 787 and 350 in terms of availability for AA,DL,UA(The 3 biggest airlines in the world) which will decide which 1 will replace their huge 767 fleets(May be some early 772s too in which the design will be 20yrs old by then).
Your trip to SEA won't be that bad. For me, it's always nice to visit the Everett factory and join the Boeing tour there. Who knows? May be U'll get lucky if the tour includes a brief preview of the 1st 788 test airframe.... The Flight Museum @ BFI is also a great way to spend a day too and only 10-15mins drive fm SEA.

The pressure that is put upon the manufacturers today is incredible and they are making delivery claims to gain business that they do really know are not feasible. Airbus have done it and Boeing have done it and it is indicative of the need to secure orders for the larger longer range aircraft.
I am sure that if A-380 0r B.787 is the right airliner for the fleet the Airlines will wait a little longer to have a safe, trouble free airliner delivered rather than one that is going to spend lots of time in dock having problems fixed out that could have been fixed during the production stage.
Most Airline today know that when they are given a particular delivery date you add an extra six months to that and just hope it will not be longer. Any Airline who must have that new airliner on a precise delivery date is not planning properly and are running the current fleet to long and sadly I have gone through this with one airline I worked for and it ended up with some of our kites actually being grounded due to maintenance problems caused by overuse and age.
So I think all the big boys will be OK with the delays but will still squeal and bawl so they can get some financial compensation from the manufacturers.
