We, people who spot planes everyday would want to know how you guys feel as flying with in plane everyday.
Pliot:
Do you have fun flying?
Do you have fun or scare when you need to land in crosswind landing.
Are you guys scared of turbulance or bed weather flyling?
Are you guys scared that you need to re-take off?
Why would you take this job? Is it going to be a life time?

Cabin crew:
Do you like flying?
Why would you take this job? Is it going to be a life time?

Others airfleets.net members who have more questions, please write it down. Thank you!

If you coun't working with Chanex in the 80's flying Herald's from BOH. One time I was on the mail flight out of Liverpool for Boh and there was a thunder storm brewing a flash of lightning looked as though it was coming through the cockpit windows. It was very bumpy and to be honest as we got closer to the storm I started to get very nervous. The herald isn't the greatest of planes to be in during a storm. BTW I was the loadmaster.

nice man. Really, it looks very different than from outside! Outside it can looks like normal plane flyline over, but in the plane it is way, way different.

very true. Also when the plane is on finals the runway looks like small road going from side to side

I remember and have recorded it on another thread about the time a certain airline of my aquaintance had a F-27-200 and we were on a short domestic when on landing we felt a slight wobble from the starboard main undercarrage. We checked it out and it needed a wheelbearing assembly fitted but not having one to hand and only having 14 pax for the return to base we departed and on landing at home the very experienced old captain put the ship down nicely on the port peg and kept the starboard up as long as he could and taxied onto stand with no problems. That would never happen today as my nerves could not stand it.

Also in the good old days. well the 80s, I was working for a US freight airline Emery Worldwide and we were using DC-8s on the pond. Most of these were 61F or 63F and were in good nick but sometimes we would charter in from some other carrier and on one occassion I remember a DC-8-53F at MAN and the Captain, First Officer and Engineer all had jeans and T-shirts on and did not want to shut down No. 3 engine as they were not sure it would fire up again. Well all three went back to the USA on a commercial flight and the DC-8 went to the big airport in the sky. Again this could not happen today due to safety checks and other legislation.

Turbulance ? pilots dont know what turbulance is unless they are up the back as a pax and then just look at their face it is full of fear.

A modern airline pilot yes will have fun but not at the risk of safety which is all pilots prime importance so at the time a cross wind is another job to do safely but when on the deck you can look back and enjoy that is after you have changed the brown trousers.

Thats a great story. I remember the Hearld's the interior was sheets of aluminium held together by this very strong kind of silver tape. Quite often if there was a bumpy flight they would all fall down. In particular G-ATDS one of the older birds looked a right state. inside and out. I think one ofe the heralds is a exhibition piece at the viewing gallery in LGW. Almost once a week there was an emergency with them like a light in the cocpit nver came on or off. But they always landed safely

I was in the static display Herald at BOH during the summer and it looks better now than it did when it flew.

Well if you count a old canva seat as a bed in a herald a bed then the answer is no. However. Maybe I shouldn't say this bit I used to lie on top of the cargo as it was more comfortable there. Palets were not used then. The netting was i bit uncomfortable and the noise was just unbearable and ear plugs wear used at all times. Hey Cpt bill your probably right its better now than it was in he past. Its a shame they aren't flying anymore. The on a at BOH museum is G-BEYF if Im not mistaken and the one at LGW viewing gallery is G-BEZB If my memory serves me correct G-ATDS went to be a fire training ex appliance in BOH.

If a passenger is giving an inflight attendant a hard time just listen to what she says to that passenger when doing her final checks before landing. She is collecting any glasses or papers that the passengers don't want and when she comes to the difficult passenger she can be heard to say  YOUR GARBAGE SIR  which indeed he is.

A male steward on a football charter was really upset with the conduct of some of the passengers in the rear of the cabin and decided to get his own back on them on the return journey. On his overnight stay he and his fellow cabin crew went out and had a very strong curry so on the return journey the old belly was full of gas. After the passengers had been given a drink from the bar and the trolly stowed away at the rear the male steward walked slowly from the back to the front of the cabin passing very strong wind which was very distressing to the football supporters. This practice is known as
CROP DUSTING

So if you hear the expression  YOUR GARBAGE SIR  or experiance  CROP DUSTING  then you know you'r a bad passenger.

Ah thanks for that. I have a fiend who was an MD11 pilot for Vasp in their time. Now he flies Lear 55's. But the stories he told me were just so unbeleviable that I found it hard to believe. I will put hem here but I wanna ask his permision first.

On a QANTAS flight from London to Sydney a young beautiful blond got out of her seat in the economy section and went up front to first class section and sat down. As she walked up front she was heard to say I'm blond I'm beautiful and I'm going to Sydney. An air hostess went to her and said I'm sorry you can't sit hear this is for first class passengers only to which the blond replied I'm blond I'm beautiful and I'm going to Sydney. The hostess went and told the senior in charge of the cabin the story and she also went and told the blond that due to the fact she had only payed for an economy seat she would need to move down the back and again the blond replied I'm blond I'm beautiful and I'm going to Sydney and sat still. The incident was relayed to the captain and he said to the cabin crew don't worry I'll fix it out my wife is also a blond. So off he went to the first class section found the blond and spoke to her who immediately rose from the first class seat and went back to economy. What did you say to her the flight attendant asked ? O said the captain I told her that first class terminated in Singapore so she went back to economy saying I'm blond I'm beautiful and I'm going to Sydney.
