A bit of old news now but 2 757's are sitting in the desert waiting for service with Jet2, this has been rumours for months on end. For those that dont know, they will be based at Leeds Bradford (EGNM) and operating the winter Tenerife route starting October. The information on Jet2's activity reaches me earlier due to my contacts there so since i don't have an airliners.net membership ill be posting here instead if you want. Plans were originally to get G-PIDS, although this fell through for some reason, but didnt ask.

Didnt see it on here so i thought i would post it

I always like to see new aircraft info.

The 2 aircraft in question are G-LSAA (24122) and G-LSAB (24136). Both were registered on 17.05.05.

I look forward to seeing and photographing these before too long.

Isnt G-PIDS always going tech? Isnt that why MYT droped all Boeing 767/757s? Prehaps G-PIDS was more trouble than its worth?

If you look up mytravel G-PIDS is still under as operating for MYT? So have MYT extended its life span just for this summer season? or does the data need to be updated. Correct me if im wrong.

MYT did want an all airbus fleet, however my thought is they wanted to get rid of some debt, having got rid of most of their cruise ships also. MYT has 3 old 752s which were some of the first off the production line, G-JALC was the 6th i think and G-RJGR was the 8th ..they could be in the wrong order though..and i think the 3rd (reg i cant remember) was the 10th if i remember right.
G-DIMB was known well in MX with its time of going tech, however this is Monarchs problem now.

Having flew on both JALC and 'Roger' to TFS last Dec, i can only say they have done their job, but look in tatters now.

Summer is a very busy time and the pax figures will be high, especially as its a manchester based aircraft so probably they have done that

Danny, JALC has now left the fleet, and gone to Parkhead Leasing and Sales and RJGR is showing Potential change of registered ownership in progress , this aircraft had an incident at Manchester EGCC yesterday
So..2 down 1 to go, be a sad day when all the MYT 752's are gone, even though they are tatty and old.

I have just been reading a 757info site that states that the 2 757's (G-LSAA + G-LSAB) have gone for painting one to southend and one to filton is this the case??
Anyone got an idea when these will fly to LBA??

It seems that the Brit 757 that is based at LBA will be swapped again back to the 767 later this season and the 767 will do the winter season from LBA.

John if you could find out the date that would be great??

Afterburner,

Im confirming october, no date is set yet, the aircraft are being painted in lasham and another place which ive forgot. They will be then sent to bournemouth for stripping down, new interior fitted and a thorough check, as they have been stood in the desert for 6yrs and as you can imagine, it needs a good overhaul. Rumours started of jet2 doing a LC service to the USA, however this is ONLY A RUMOUR due to one of the 757's being ER.

A possible Larnaca route will be started using them, the TFS route and AGP route. Plans so far are to buy 3 more to base at Manchester.

News as well is for jet2 to put fridges in some of its 737's (so we hear), obsurd i know, although i did meet my contact in jet2 yesterday who was willing to give me all the goss.

My bets so far are the aircraft will touch down at LBA a few days prior to the first service to allow for photo shoots and inspections etc.

I will give you the dates as soon as i hear :-)

John,

Have a look at this website it indicates that the two aircraft in question only came out of service last year. It seems they were both in service with FLYAIR.

http://www.b757.info/database/prodlist03.htm

If this is the case they shouldn't be in such bad condition.

Stupid question why put fridges in on short haul?? Or do they have plans for the 737's to do TFS etc. I think they have the range??

I have a friend who works at LBA, he indicates the airport maybe in talks with American Airlines regarding routes to US soil....

Cheers

Allan

CO may be showing an interest too. The 737 will not be operating the TFS route, they could make it spec wise, although there is a reason unknown to me as yet why they have chosen the 757 for this, maybe due to load factors etc.

The fridges are for the crew apparently so my friend says. Whether this will happen or not only time will tell.

Personally, i dont like the thought of a LCC to the USA, seat wise anyway. The sound of an US carrier from LBA sounds interesting, and id be more than glad to see them at LBA for sure.

The information i get is from a pilot who works for jet2, for reasons i wont mention his name but i can state that information i give is genuine to the best knowledge out there. I don't generate rumours or information, i pass on knowledge i have to you guys with the feeling that the information is true and to the best of everyones knowledge concerned.

Keep me updated allan if you get any more info and ill do the same mate!

People

It has been posted on another forum that I read that neither of the two 757's for Jet2 will make it on time for the first Tenerife flight.

I have also heard rumours that Titan will operate the route for a month until the above two are ready???

Any ideas???

Titan WILL operate the first few flights, the news i've been told that the first LS 75 is to be in service in 2-3 weeks!!

Jet2 is also considering LCA ..Larnaca route..afaik, they wouldnt have started booking seats for TFS unless the aircraft can make it, they have no other available for the TFS run, it is funny though that its due to start next week and they havent made an appearence yet, but we'll wait for the next few days.

When jet2 will run the 752 with their own CC, it will start with 6 crew then go to 5.

John,

Is it true that no matter what Titan crew will be operating the Jet2 752's for the first few months even if the planes are ready???

John it seems more and more likely here that Titan a/c
G-ZAPU will run the first few TFS flights???

Well I would think we will know in at the most 5 days as the first flight is 6 days away!!!!

Aparently I have now been told that both a/c are at southend... I am assuming that must mean AA is painted as it was at lasham for painting in August???

We shall see??? Jethros is showing oct and nov for them to be in service... dont know if this is reliable....

yeah it looks really really nice......

I am looking forward to seeing them land at LBA on a nice sunny day will look very good.....

Any idea if they have put IFE on these 757's due to the generation of the flight to TFS???

doubt it, ryanair will be flying to TFN and have no IFE, you dont even get IFE on the flights to spain, plus jet2 arent even gonna be serving HOT meals..so dont expect too much

User profil Private message Suggest deletion
  Message of Afterburner_Galore - Sent 06 Oct 9:26

I thought these planes had all facilities to provide hot meals???

They should at least offer it at time of booking.......

Looking at this would Jet2 of been better getting some 738's instead of the 752's or not????

User profil Private message Suggest deletion
  Message of 757Lad - Sent 06 Oct 12:26

Far as the word is, no hot meals are given as an option.
Ive seen how these bloody aircraft meals are made and what goes on behind the scenes, i wouldnt give them a penny for it..or take it for free now even if they offered it to me!!

I am trying to find out when we will see LSAA I am guessing next Tue but who knows....

The B757-200 G-LSAA did'nt turn up for todays flight down to Tenerife for Jet2.com. The Titan B757-200 G-ZAPU Also never turned up at LBA to operte the flight.

So They Jet2.com have sent 2 Boeing 737-300's down to Tenerife today from Leeds. Both G-CELS & G-CELV are each taking a load of about 110 passengers each. This will allow the B737-300's to go direct with out the fuel stops with a full load of fuel of 14.

G-CELV = LS223 out 16:00 and LS224 in 01:55 (Normal scheduled flight)
G-CELS = LS211 out 16:40 and LS212 in 02:40 (Extra Flight)
