Macau based Metis Transpacific Airlines will start B757 service on Sept 14. One way is only HKD$1000 or USD$125.

Spot planes:
Thanx for sharing this news. Amazing fares! Even the lowest O/W Y-class fare of O8(Oasis) is double that @ HK$1,990 for HKG-YVR and MFM(Macau) is less than 1 hour ferry ride fm Hong Kong. Surely great news for my brother who is working in the biggest Casino project in Macau.

2 catches though:
1. MFM-YVR, even with the longest range 752, won't be a non-stop. After a bit of checking, the fuel stop looks like PKC(Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky Yelizovo).
2. The cabin photos on the Metis website clearly were not taken fm any 757 so we've no way to even guess what's the standard of the seats in all classes. In fact, they look more like the cabin of a 744 or a 743 which Metis claim they hv in their fleet.

Anyway, for such a young & relatively unknown Int'l airport, MFM has now got at least 2 operating long-haul LCCs(i.e. Viva Macau, Metis Transpacific)....more than any other airport in Asia-Pacific. The long-haul LCC battle in this region is heating up and Macau may well become the center of it all....

I travel to Australia a lot. I can now travel YVR-MFM by Metis and then MEM-SYD on Viva Macau. The question is do I want to use both LCC for such a long trip.

From those who had tried Oasis YVR-HKG, Oasis service is at par with CX expect you have to buy the snacks. Since Oasis fare is about half of CX, one can buy lots of snacks with the saving.

First flight originally scheduled for Sept 14 but has been pushed back again. Now has no definite start up date. Comments in other forums about Metis were very negative.
