Singapore Airlines will take delivery of the first Airbus A380, the world's biggest passenger plane, on 15 October.

Singapore Airlines, the world's biggest airline by stock market value, said that it would pick up the superjumbo from Airbus in Toulouse and take it to Singapore to allow crew and ground staff familiarization with the plane before the first flight on 25 October.

Singapore, the first to fly the A380 commercially, will take the aircraft to Sydney on its maiden flight, seats for which will be sold in a charity auction on auction web site eBay between August 27 and September 10

Jolly good show. Know as far as I know this is a charity flight that will be up for auction on e-bay and Exxon are providing the fuel as a donation. So I cant see how it can be the first scheduld A380 flight I guess its a publicity stunt

It's easy to find out if this will be a true scheduled commercial flight or more of a PR event: Check SQ's timetables & look for any flight departing fm SIN on 25Oct or after that has '388' under 'Aircraft'.

NO 388 showing on both the PDF timetable and the interactive(Supposedly the most updated) schedule. It means 1st flight on 25Oct is either:
a) One-off PR stunt
b) A NON-COMMERCIAL(Or non-revenue, test, etc.) flight
c) SQ is still uncertain whether their 1st 388 will be ready for scheduled daily ops fm 25Oct so they can't enter it as planned aircraft type on their schedule system now.
