Mild evolution of the existing kangaroo and most pax probably won't notice the change when looking @ the tail fin fm the departure gate. It's sharper and a little more eye-catching on the web & printed materials though. Personally, I think QF is very smart not to temper too much with such a distinctive Corp ID that has managed to be around for so long without looking a bit outdated.....design simplicity at its best! I speculate that for most non-Aussies, the QF logo is probably more instantly recognizable than the Australian national flag!

Plenty of top airlines in the world managed to screw-up their logo/liveries even after spending millions of $ in renewing/creating their Corp ID.

I couldn't get that link to work and having looked on Jp.net i am hard pushed to spot a difference other than the position of the kangaroo. Is there any other difference to the livery at all. Or is it the same right down the body as before. If not i dont see it as a new livery since it is so close to identical to the old one. Still its good to see that Qantas has kept its sole by keeping the kangaroo.

New Kangaroo logo is already implemented on Qantas' website: http://www.qantas.com.au/regions/dyn/home/qualifier-region-au

Agreed, the overall shape is very similar to the original. The changes on the kangaroo are mostly just:
-Fatter backside
-Sharper profile of the leg/heel
-More pronunced/sharper head shape
-The previous profile is rounder/more slender overall

The new kangaroo is overweight and pregnant

I agree with Spot Planes, the old logo more thin reflect the best spirit of Australia. Australians most of they are not overweighted and the thin Kangaroo has an idea of more altitude of flying significantly a better flight, more rapidly and soft. Bad point for new Kangaroo.
Logos of airlines like the birds of Lufthansa (very thin), looks like very high flights. Kangaroo is Australia symbol and needs represents the Australians.
They could switch the Kangaroo for Koala, instead the pregnant Kangaroo.

I think a thin Kangaroo is best for the Qantas image, because we cannot imagine the overweight for Australian people, most of them are thin. A logo reflects the image airline wants to put, and the thin view is also more healthy.

I can't see the kangaroo logo. The links show me to some news pages, but not a sign of the kangaroo

Fat in some people's eyes may be muscular in others.
