All the subjects about small airports in Scotland being threatened with closure because of the low amount of airlines using the airports has made me think.I should make my own airline.I could be based in Dundee,It could fly to isle Of Man and Cork or Shannon. If you have better ideas please tell me. I also thought of names for my airline :Bee Air,Thisle Air.Please tell me your ideas oh and i was thinking of a suitable aircraft. I found a company down south (england) chartering Shorts 360 (BAC Express) which i thought might be suitable for these small airports. If i have missed out anything or if you have some ideas then please do tell me

Thanks,so the metro III can go there.WOW! the BAe RJ100 is pretty big for an airport like dundee, that would be great but i would prefer to start with something smaller, these planes will be really expensive compares to the twin prop regional aircraft

they seem ok,instead of the metro III a jet stream could do the same sorts of jobs.Would a Jetstream be able to fly in to barra and the Fair Isle?
Are jetstream 31 cheaper than metro III?

Why dont we go all the way and have a real good domestic and international airline flying from all Scottish airports to the more popular business centres of the world.

What about ROYAL CALEDONIAN AIRWAYS

The types of aircraft we will use could be endless but as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of this new company I will have final say on routes and types.

Well it is Christmas after all !!!

User profil Private message Suggest deletion
  Message of G-NIKO - Sent 17 Dec 17:29

but i will need to wait abit because i am only 14 but i no alot about aviation.

When i am 15 i am taking flying lessons.

I think its a bit early for that.we need to start on a small scale first.captain bill, the place of chief executive is already taken. And so is the top person (thats me!!!!)
if you could help me and give me any advice tha would be much appreciated. You can have place as the executive captain in choosing the aircraft and stuff.Oh and we need to buy that domain thing!

Excelant choice 1991
Do they have good range.

User profil Private message Suggest deletion
  Message of 1991 - Sent 17 Dec 19:00

Oh the plane is in business spec,it would need to be changed to airline spec. And the cessna is the best choise because the tay aviation has a base there and can service and carry out repairs.

Oh do you mean maintanence.

User profil Private message Suggest deletion
  Message of 1991 - Sent 17 Dec 19:04

Yes,and that will save costsof traveling around to get maintenance done on the plane.

User profil Private message Suggest deletion
  Message of G-NIKO - Sent 17 Dec 19:12

suppose so

you could get shelter for the plane because there is a few hangers.

User profil Private message Suggest deletion

Do you have to pay for the delivery of the plane

Interesting that someone should comment on the start-up of a new airline in scotland. I had been thinking about it myself but i can't actually do it at the moment as i am a poor student. It will probably be five to ten years before i can even thing about setting up my low fare airline. I have a name but for confidential reasons i will keep it quiet for the time being. Therefore knowbody else who may use the wisdom of this sites writers, who has money can have the name. Got two route suggestions, not sure whether it has been mentioned before.
London City to Dundee?
London City to Aberdeen (i saw in a magazinze that there is actually a big demand for this route)

I reckon the Do328 would also be a good aircraft for more high capacity routes from Dundee. I believe ScotAirways already uses them from Dundee

User profil Private message Suggest deletion
  Message of G-NIKO - Sent 17 Dec 20:39

The Do 328 is a good aircraft to operate from Dundee. Also Scotairways has a maintenance facility at Dundee Airport

User profil Private message Suggest deletion
  Message of 1991 - Sent 18 Dec 16:36

I like the Partenavia P68B but i think we will be able to get a cessna plane for a cheaper price.also there is a route already from london-city to dundee and the whole point of this airline is to operate from dundee because here is money to be made out of dundee by creating more routes.

User profil Private message Suggest deletion
  Message of 1991 - Sent 18 Dec 16:39

do u relise how much a Do 328 will cost? i have no money to spend on planes so all the money will have to come from a grant or donations

User profil Private message Suggest deletion
  Message of 1991 - Sent 18 Dec 19:23

Ok i see where you are coming from, but this is my airline idea and i'm not goin to let anyone steal my ideas. The airline would be based at Dundee, the runway is big enourgh for most prop planes and small jets up to the BAe RJ100. the whole point of this airline is to serve this part of scotland tha has an airport nearby but only one airline is using it.This airport serves a huge area, from parts of fife up to Aberdeen and inverness. The idea is to have flights to Isle of man and Ireland,Wick,Sumburgh,Kirkwall.if these flights are sucecessfull then other flights to mainland europe can be started.Dundee cannot be expanded but there is still a massive potential..The airline is called Tartan Wings because it is a Scottish airline.Your funding will be much appreciated and i would like you to help us start up our airline.

User profil Private message Suggest deletion
Message of SJR - Sent 18 Dec 19:43

When i mentioned the Do328 i didn't mean as a starter aircraft i meant it as a route building airliner. I mentioned the routes to London City (both from scottish airports) i ment based in Scotland. I was not aware that their was a flight from Dundee to London City. If anyone is interested my airline if started will also start on a small scale but i hope to have bigger bases from:

London City
Leeds Bradford
Newcastle
Aberdeen
Manchester
Birmingham
Cardiff

I have no idea how much a Do328 would cost as i am only eighteen and therefore have conducted no research into this. I know it would probably be quite expensive as leasing a 737 costs about £1000 an hour without fuel, crew and landing/takeoff rights.

Right Captain bill is saying he has the contacts to get the airline up and running but he wants to be the boss until he can retire to the sun,but i wont let him steal my ideas, but i also want him to help us.he says he has a boeing 767 or something like that,bt he says he cant land that at dundee but i told him that the whole point of the airline is to operate from dundee.
Oh have you found the landing, takeoff and parking charges for Dundee??

Good luck , hope it all works out.

I was going to ask if the website had a contact phone number on it. If so this would probably be just as useful. If Dundee doesn't reply they have something wrong with them. I mean they have very little traffic and really could use the extra income.

Being based in Scotland could be a unique selling point (become the scottish national airline) for example. Start off at Dundee, then start ops at Inverness and or Aberdeen and grow from there. I am hoping to start mine off from Leeds Bradford but my chances of ever being able to find the revenue to fund such a project may be difficult.

Routes i would run are types bellow in invisible ink, hehehe
