Hi
I'm recently got interested to find out what planes used in movies.
But as i'm very new to 'planespotting' i ask help for experienced plansepotters ...
(i don't know maybe there is some webpages dedicated to this or other people to interested 'planes in movies' )
Last night i saw a movie  Forces of Nature  there was a 'crash' in takeoff when plane speedind in runway the bird hit the engine and after that pilots hit the full brake and plane skids over the runway.
Does anyone what plane is used in this movie
Thanks
Kristjan
PS! sorry about my english writing

Hi,
The plane that is used very often in films is the Boeing 747. I don't know why but in many TV series, like LOST, the planes that crashes is a B747. But in 'Die Another Day' an Antonov was used but this plane is rarely used in films.

Make that Die Harder (was part 2, after all...) As far as I could see in the movie the registration of that Jumbo was N473EV, an (ex-) Evergreen one...

The aircraft mentioned above (N473EV) have been scrapped in 2001. I have never seen the reg of an aircraft because they use fake aircrafts in the films so you can't see the tail number.

Hi, in the film Air Panic they used an Airbus A320-200 of Indian Airlines with original registration VT-??? (I will look and will post it later). The name of the Airlines was changes in the movie but not the registration.
Usually they used to give in films fake names of airlines and with no registration.

........theres an ex-BA 747 parked at Dunsford airfield (AKA Top Gear's test track), that's been used in several films/tv. There is a pic of it in the database with twin B52 style engines mounted on it.

Here are a few others:

Passenger 57 - Atlantic Airways (Ex Eastern) L-1011 N330EA
The Langoliers - N31018 - American Pride L-1011 (ex-TWA)
Die Hard (forgot which one) - Northeast L-1011 (ex Hawaiian)
This one was painted red and during the return flight from
filming, the L-1011 ran into some rain and the paint washed out. It is a rare item.
Northeast (Bolivia) Yellowbird L-1011 3D-NEG for a TV series
Tocumen Cargo DC-8 camouflauged for a movie
Maof Airlines 707 N778PA for Chuck Norris film.
Boeing 707 N198CA (possibly ex El Al/TWA) in Speed
Kalitta 747 N707CK used as  Oceanic  with fake painted
explosion on the side for movie Executive Decision
Tower 747 N618FF used int he movie Liar Liar
Air Atlanta Icelandic L-1011 TF-ABG for Last Flight Out in
Pan Am style cheatline.

I have slides of most of these if you want to see a print.

I hope that helps a little.

ye there was a VS 346 used in that film. The scene was meant to be in Miami, but it was actually filmed in Prague.... there are photos over on airliners.net i believe so there are a few CSA 737s in the background and I think a Sky Europe 737 too..... thought it was funny that these 737s could make it all the way to Miami!!!

You know there is those really rubbish B-movies normally played on Channel Five, I saw one about the Swissair MD-11 that crashed near Canada. (well it was more about the survivors families) There was also Airport 197?, when the small airplane hits the B747, that was clearly an American Airlines!

The movie Six days Seven nights, starring Harrison Ford and Anne Heche, shows some B737-200s of Aloha Airlines in an airport in Hawaii. I don't remember the registrations of those airplanes at airport. If anyone knows, please post it.

For the TV show LOST:

The airplane pieces on the beach, depicting the doomed flight from Sydney, are the remnants of a Lockheed Tristar L-1011. She began service for Eastern Airlines (N308EA) in 1972 and was retired by Delta Airlines (N783DL) in 1998 having racked up a total of 28,822 landings and 58,841 flight-hours.
ABC opted not to fly the intact N783DL to Hawaii first before dismantling it. Instead, ABC dispatched 40 production workers to Mojave to cannibalize and ship the aircraft pieces. Dismantling took about 5 days in February 2004.

Lost also shares Oceanic with the movie Executive Decision.

All that info is from IMDB.
