I think that Swiss International Airlines might have leased 1 BMI Airbus A320 for their Geneva-London Heathrow route, as both Swiss and BMI are in the same airline alliance.

Here's at least 2 BMI (BD) aircrafts I have spotted on the Flight radar 24 site that has been under Swiss International Airlines (LX) flight numbers:
G-MIDS (BMI): LX358 GVA-LHR (24/04/2010)
G-MIDY (BMI): LX348 GVA-LHR, LX349 LHR-GVA (21/04/2010)

As far as I know there are 2 x 320 and 2 x 321 to go from the fleet.

Thanks for the response, guys, as I spotted them on Flight Radar 24 over the London area in the past 4 days since the end of the Ash crisis. Keep the response coming!

I flew with BMI A320 G-MIDY on a Swiss flight number LX349 on 29.03.2010 from LHR-GVA. Both airlines are now owned by LH hence this code share.

It should be no surprise that Lufthansa would redeploy the BMI fleet as it sees fit - and we've speculated previously about the future of BMI now that it has a new owner. Also of BMI Baby and BMI Regional which as I recall our concensus was that LH would not wish to retain.

I've noticed recently that BMI Regional flights, which previously used the callsign 'Midland', now use 'Kittiwake'. Is this an early sign that Regional might be being lined up for hiving off? Although its flight numbers do continue to be prefixed 'BD'.

LH and the new German CEO of BMI have committed themselves to BMI as a European and Mid Eastern carrier, to BMI Regional and also to Baby as they believe in a limited LCC operation. In many ways as we have said in the past the BMI profile on domestic and European out of LHR is LCC so if anything in time there could be a coming together of BMI and Baby as one. It wouldn't take much to integrate Regional with what we know as BMI bringing everything back under one roof and one tier of management.

They have said BMI will operate as an independent airline with code sharing responsibilities with other STAR members but will not be a feeder for LH or any STAR partner but will be funded and managed in a way as to make it a force within Europe. That is where Mike Bishop was taking it but along came a recession and bang it had to be sold off to survive and then the pruning sheers were applied and we have now got what we have today so with anticipation we look to the future. Come on LH put your money where your mouth is.

Frankly, I always regard BMI as the only credible weapon within *A's arsenal against BA+OW @ the all-important LHR battlefield. Sure, it may not be as profitable as LH Group would like it to be but strategically, BMI has important long-term value to LH+*A.........I'm glad LH mgmt realizes that not all *A intercon connections for the entire Europe can be done @ FRA and LHR is probably the 2nd highest traffic hub for *A in Europe way ahead of MUC,ZRH<SwissInt'l> or Vienna<AustrianAir>.
