FR admitted that because of EU261, they will have to pay some hotel bills for passengers stranded away from home.
I don't understand it - so far all such claims were denied based on the causes beyond airline's control clause, which does seem pretty clear to me:

air carriers should be limited or excluded in cases
where an event has been caused by extraordinary
circumstances which could not have been avoided even
if all reasonable measures had been taken. Such circumstances

Why, all of the sudden, even FR agrees to pay the bills then?
Is it only for people who had a return ticket, and completed the first leg? What if somebody was going from A to B, staying a day in B, and then going from B to C, and later back from C to A. All on one-way tickets. If you get stranded in B or C should you be getting your hotel expenses covered?
