British Airways Dropping Manchester to New York?

Last night i caught the end of a news report saying that British Airways would now only serve longhaul destinations from London and if this is rite they are dropping the Manchester to New York service. Can anyone confirm that BA is now officially LONDON AIRWAYS! Also speculation about whether AA or UA will take over the route?

This is correct. The service will end in October when the aircraft will be positioned to LGW for the start of a new BA LGW - JFK daily service. It is sad and I do know that Manchester Chamber of Commerce along with Manchester Airport Ltd are trying to persuade BA to change their mind on this one but I don't give out much hope. I do foresee a time when BA will be a London only airline possibly operating only LHR to MAN, GLA, EDI and ABZ and all other domestic and regional airport routes to mainland Europe will be flown by either FlyBE or one of the One World Partners.

The dropping of the MAN-JFK route means that every BA route uses a London Airport (LHR, LGW and LCY).
