I'm flying from LPL John Lennon to DUB in November (Aer Lingus on the way there and Ryanair on the way back). What is Ryanair like? Is it like flying a bus? They seem to nickel and dime you to death, but the fare was only 25 Euros per person. How strict are they on the bag weight limits?

I've just got back from St Etienne on Ryanair. It's about 3 years since I last flew Ryanair and they are certainly cutting down everywhere possible. There's no pockets on the seat backs, and the yellow plastic everywhere internally doesn't help the look. The next change is going to be advertising on the front of all the luggage bins I think. However, you can't fault them for the basics - flights both ways were on time, the fare was only 10 Euro return, and the 737s are all brand new (unless you get one of the -200s which will all be gone by the end of the year). We checked in 32kg (between two of us) on the return trip and weren't charged extra (allowance is 15kg each).

I have never flown with Ryanair, but i have flown on Easyjet, Jet2 and the now defunct Helios Airways and had reasonable experience. To that matter i say you get what you pay for, so if you don't like the service provided by low fare airlines pay more and get more for your money. Out of the three i have flown, i had my second worst flight to Larnaca from Luton on Helios (only beaten by the wonder that was Air Scandic). The return flight with Helios on the 800 series was pleasent as was my experience on the Easyjet 737-700 to AMS and back from Liverpool. LBA to AMS and the return flights aren't too bad with Jet 2 either. The leg room isn't great though so i wouldn't like to be on one of their 733's for more than an hour. Also the luggage bins are covered with the routes and starting prices which doesn't look good for the airline. They also don't sell decent food before dinner time as i was told we don't have sandwiches on morning flights im affraid. As i said you get what you pay for.
