An Air Canada flight was forced to make an emergency landing in Japan Sunday after the plane hit heavy turbulence and four flight attendants were injured.
The plane encountered the bumpy conditions shortly after taking off from Shanghai, China bound for Vancouver. Four of the 11 cabin attendants, all Canadians, suffered injuries that are said to be non life-threatening, mostly cuts and bruises.

Yes i have seen the one about the A300 that crashed in New York due to a tail failure. Which was caused by the pilot using the rudder violantly. Seen most of the Air Crash Investigations and the Seconds from disaster episodes. Very interesting.

Incidents happen. The larger the airline and the more flights they operate, then the amount of incidents are proportionate. The important thing is not to confuse incidents with crashes. For example a bird strike, is not something that can necessarily be avoided. The turbulence this particular aircraft flew into, happened as the aircraft reached its cruising altitude, the captain had only moments before turned off the seat belt signs and the cabin crew were serving drinks. Looking at other incidents, smoke in the cabin or cockpit has happened with many airlines. It does not necessarily mean the cabin or cabin is full of smoke. It means it has been detected and the captain has decided to take action and land so further investigations can be done to determine the cause. So please do not read too much into incidents such as these as meaning pilot error or poorly maintained aircraft etc, they are two very different things.
all the best, Trevor

Good I am glad you understand the difference. As for Most secure ... that would depend on who you are flying with. A useful point of reference to remember would be:-
http://ec.europa.eu/transport/air_portal/safety/black_list_en.htm
This list is not perfect but it is a great start. Hopefully other regions will do likewise to identify those airlines that need to be identified. Then either the airlines on the blacklist will get their act together, to get themselves off the blacklist, or providing word spreads, no one will fly them and they will simply go bankrupt.
all the best, Trevor
