NWA grounds its last DC10

NWA said last week it had taken its last DC10 out of international service, and now flies A330s on all of its transatlantic routes. The company started taking on new A330s in August 2003, and now has 22 in its fleet, using them on transatlantic, transpacific, and intra-Asian routes. The planes have NWA's new World Business Class product, with seats that recline 176 degrees, power ports at each seat, privacy canopies and 60-in. pitch.

 That is very sad, some DC-10-30 of Northwest flown before on Varig Brazil, and i flown on DC-10 only once, many years ago with Lan Chile, from Santiago to Puerto Montt.

What will happen to the remaining DC-10's. I assume they will be scrapped. If i made the laws this would be a criminal offence. Or have they managed to find a new home with a cargo airline  Either way this is sad news!

I saw a Northwest DC-10 depart LAX today enroute to Minneapolis St. Paul Int'l. It was flight 312. Didn't get a picture because of poor visibility and because I was driving. This was a domestic flight.

Truly a sad day, flown on many(including less than comfy Laker 10-10's;refuil in Bangor!)and ill-fated Spantex.
any old Mac employees out there why didn't they do another strech with the lower deck sky loung .would have blown A340
away!. Though A340 good plane in its own right.

Skid Kid, it's sad to now that NWA bought many DC-10 in the past, including some of the Varig. I'm feel lucky too, i still get to catch the daily Velog ( Varig Log) planes in GRU.
